ABOUT ABOUT

This engaging presentation explores some tantalizing coincidences and provides the historical perspective to put the audience in the shoes of early astronomers in their quest to discover new planets in the Solar System.  Bode’s Rule reveals an interesting pattern regarding planetary orbits, but is it coincidence or is there some underlying cause/effect?  You decide.

Mr. Fred Myers will be presenting this lecture.  He has been a science educator for 40 years.  He is currently in his eighth year serving as Director of Science for Glastonbury Public Schools.  Mr. Myers is probably best known for his pioneering efforts related to the national movement known as "Physics First" (re-alignment of high school science sequences), for his leadership related to state and national science standards, and for his science presentations geared for learners of all ages.  He has received many education awards, including the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching and Janet Guernsey Award for Excellence in Physics Teaching.
